Autoimmunity Induced by Hydrocarbon Oils in Mice
نویسندگان
چکیده
For many decades, mineral oils with or without dried mycobacteria, i.e. Complete and Incomplete Freund ́s Adjuvant, have been the most commonly used immune adjuvants for experimental work. Later on, better defined hydrocarbon oils such as pristane (2,6,10,14-tetramethylpentadecane), squalene (2,6,10,15,19,23-hexamethyl-2,6,10,14,18,22-tetracosa-hexane), or hexadecane have emerged and partially replaced them. Nowadays a broad array of hydrocarbon oils is not only used for the induction of experimental diseases but also for human or veterinary vaccines [1].

Characterization and Evaluation of Light Hydrocarbon in Northwestern Iranian Crude Oil by Detailed Hydrocarbon Analysis (D.H.A)Gas Chromatography
Lighthydrocarbons are commonly used to evaluatecrude oils to determine oil families in reservoirs undergone some kind of alteration process. In this study crude oil contentsfromNorthwestern IranDelta (samples A, B and C)were analyzed in order to evaluate the IranDelta petroleum system independent of higher molecular weight markers. Ultra high resolution gas chromatography was used in separation...

This article was aimed to analyze the essential oils from Cinnamomum camphora leaves of four areas by GC-MS and to study their analgesic properties. Analgesia test was performed employing mouse acetic acid writhing method, hot plate method and reserpine induced migraine model, and plasma and brain tissue NO and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) contents were determined. The major compounds from essential...
متن کاملNeonatal exposure to low-dose 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin causes autoimmunity due to the disruption of T cell tolerance.
Although 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) has been shown to influence immune responses, the effects of low-dose TCDD on the development of autoimmunity are unclear. In this study, using NFS/sld mice as a model for human Sjögren's syndrome, in which the lesions are induced by the thymectomy on day 3 after birth, the autoimmune lesions in the salivary glands, and in later phase, inflamm...
متن کاملLymphocyte Activation Gene-3 (LAG-3) Negatively Regulates Environmentally-Induced Autoimmunity
Environmental factors including drugs, mineral oils and heavy metals such as lead, gold and mercury are triggers of autoimmune diseases in animal models or even in occupationally exposed humans. After exposure to subtoxic levels of mercury (Hg), genetically susceptible strains of mice develop an autoimmune disease characterized by the production of highly specific anti-nucleolar autoantibodies,...
متن کاملNuclear receptors take center stage in Th17 cell-mediated autoimmunity.
Liver X receptors (LXRs) are nuclear receptors involved in cholesterol homeostasis. Notably, they are also expressed by T cells and are involved in regulating T cell proliferation and differentiation. In this issue of the JCI, Cui et al. have elucidated the molecular mechanism underlying the effects of LXR activation on a subset of T cells known as Th17 cells in mice and humans. Specifically, t...
